Prairie Winds – The winds whistling through the wheat fields in August. It is difficult to create organic shapes in glass as glass wants to round itself when introduced to heat in a kiln. I make rods first using a terracotta flowerpot filled with glass and a kiln with a hole in the bottom. The molten glass flows through the hole. Once I have made enough rods i place them in a kiln to fuse together. The piece is fired one last time to shape the glass. Reminsecent of winds gently rustling the wheat crops.
